Dan’s Daily: Sharks Talk Losing Karlsson; Fake Penguins News

Pittsburgh Penguins trade prospect Erik Karlsson. NHL trade chatter and news.

There are some days when I feel your pain. The Pittsburgh Penguins rumors are out of control, and in the craziest outbreak of fake hockey news I’ve seen in a long time, it seems every hack site with some hockey-sounding name is touting a bogus Tomas Tatar update. PHN confirmed some of the details Monday, or rather we confirmed a rebuke. Also, current Penguins goalie Tristan Jarry is married, while former Penguins goalie Tom Barrasso’s banner is hanging above the Hall of Fame. The San Jose Sharks talked about losing Erik Karlsson, Cale Makar is the NHL 24 cover boy, David Krejci hung ’em up, and tragedy visited the hockey world.

I spoke with sources Monday, and they got quite a kick out of many of the quotes attributed to Tomas Tatar regarding the Penguins. Even I’m confused over who has reported what — I think I saw memes using a fake Daily Faceoff logo and several “posts” from non-reputable outlets using fabricated quotes. One outlet even quoted a PHN reader, who replied to me on Twitter, as a hockey analyst and referred to his Twitter handle as an outlet.

Take a moment to look before you like or share, especially on Facebook. Zuckerberg’s monster is heavily promoting these fake stories and sites.

AND…

Tristan Jarry was married over the weekend. The goalie was accidentally(?) rocking a little Superman S curl on the altar.

And the Hockey Hall of Fame unveiled the Tom Barrasso banner:
