Dan’s Daily: Canucks Reverse–J.T. Miller Gets PAID, Flyers Building Goon Line?

Published

on

Pittsburgh Penguins. NHL trade, J.T. Miller, Vancouver Canucks

How did NHL teams get their names? Our Owen Krepps found a tie and decided to show off the new Las Vegas digs as he explained the St. Louis Blues, Pittsburgh Penguins, Vancouver Canucks, and more. Those Canucks reversed course and surprised everyone by splashing the cash on Pittsburgh native J.T. Miller for the next seven years. The Montreal Canadiens and New York Rangers are again linked in the NHL trade rumors, and a day after a top KHL coach railed on the country to keep its stars, why do many Russian players prefer the NHL?

I’m still not sure what to make of the NHL trade talk involving Patrick Kane. Idle speculation, “idol” speculation, or legit? Perhaps all of the above. I would love to see the Buffalo Sabres make a solid run at him and for Buffalo to crawl out of the dank sports basement they’ve shared with the likes of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Jacksonville Jaguars. Though getting Kane and getting out of the basement aren’t necessarily linked, it sure would give a passionate yet downtrodden fanbase a boost.

Then again, remember Chris Archer?

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: Why do Russian players like the Penguins’ Evgeni Malkin prefer the NHL over the ruble-rich paychecks in Russia? Russian NHL players.

Steelers Now: Steelers trade acquisition Malik Reed immediately took a pay cut? Yep. Full story — Pittsburgh Steelers.

Nick Farabaugh digested it all. The Kenny Pickett work. The situation. And Farabaugh opines that after the preseason body of work, the Steelers should trust Mitch Trubisky.

Seriously, the Steelers punter has a whip. Check out Percy Harvin III’s Hemi ride.

Pittsburgh Baseball Now: Yes, yes, the Pittsburgh Pirates lost AGAIN. They were quietly stomped by Toronto, 4-0. However, PBN has your daily update on the prospects. Death, taxes, and Endy Rodrigues going yard. The kid is on a tear this summer. Pittsburgh Pirates watch.

It’s a HUGE day for College Football. Lots of action on the games, too. For PHN readers, bet $5 and win $200, guaranteed with this weekend’s DraftKings promo.

NHL Trade talk, News & National Hockey Now

Vancouver Hockey Now: The Canucks signed Miller. Seven years, $56 million. Guess that Penguins trade is out, eh? Our man Simmer has several stories, including Miller taking LESS money to help the team. Several stories on, about, and even from J.T. Miller.

Vegas Hockey Now: One of the best and worst things about my role with National Hockey Now is helping a few talented young writers become full-time hockey beat writers. Owen Krepps is going to be a big deal. He’s having some fun in Vegas — check out his latest video, how NHL teams got their name. NHL team names.

Montreal Hockey Now: Linking the Canadiens and Rangers? The NHL trade chatter is coming out of New York, where Montreal was once interested. The Canadiens are snapping up young talent this summer and could do more. Percolating NHL trade talk.

The Hockey News: Four landing spots for Patrick Kane.

Washington Hockey Now: If Sammi Silber, who covers the Washington Capitals, says it, you can believe it — Don’t overlook Capitals prospect defenseman, Vincent Iorio.

Philly Hockey Now: And lastly, but not least, with new head coach John Tortorella, things will be interesting on Broad St. Could we see a return of the bullies? Zack MacEwen could pair with Nic Deslauriers, which could hurt a few opponents. That’s one of the possible Philadelphia Flyers lines.

And I know the gambling stuff is polarizing. Some of you hate it, but a lot of people LOVE it. For those that love it — good news, Caesars Sportsbook is finally live in PA!
