BUFFALO — The Pittsburgh Penguins had a 2-0 lead in the third period but lost 3-2 to the Eastern Conference rival Buffalo Sabres at KeyBank Center Friday.

The storylines were many. The Penguins implosion in the third began after a bad penalty call on Evgeni Malkin. The loose defensive effort, turnovers, and physical retaliations ruined the Penguins’ evening.

Join Dan Kingerski from Buffalo. Kingerski discusses the behind-the-scenes locker room emotions and what went wrong. From the lackluster performances of players who are getting increased opportunities without Bryan Rust and Rickard Rakell to the players who played very well. Sidney Crosby and Lars Eller scored for the Penguins, who are now below .500 at 9-10-0.

It was an interesting night and another missed opportunity for the Penguins.
