Penguins Fall 3-2 in OT vs. Detroit: Impressions & Analysis Game 4 (PHN+)

It was the second of back to back games for much of the Pittsburgh Penguins roster Sunday in Detroit. Also, the Penguins were facing an NHL-heavy lineup but playing with a roster which is predominantly projected to be in the AHL, or in the case of Nathan Legare, junior hockey. Those were the impediments but the Penguins took Detroit to overtime but Madison Bowey blistered a top-shelf shot over Penguins goalie Tristan Jarry. Detroit beat the Penguins 3-2 at Little Caesars

There is a large difference between excelling and hanging on. The Penguins young players faced perhaps the most talented roster of the preseason. Detroit put sweaters on NHL regulars Anthony Mantha, Tyler Bertuzzi and Dylan Larkin. A few of them held their own. A couple of Penguins prospects didn’t fare as well.

Larkin was especially disruptive and difficult to handle for the Penguins defense.
