UPDATED: Penguins Recall Ouellet, Pitlick, Smith, Hayes from AHL
It turns out that the road to Wilkes-Barre runs in both directions for the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Three players who were assigned there before the team traveled to Nova Scotia last week — defenseman Ty Smith and forwards Rem Pitlick and Avery Hayes — were recalled from the Penguins’ farm team there today.
Later in the day, the Penguins summoned defenseman Xavier Ouellet, another who had been demoted to their American Hockey League affiliate last week.
Their return leaves the Penguins with 37 players — 22 forwards, 11 defensemen and four goaltenders — on their active camp roster. That includes defenseman P.O Joseph, who did not practice today and is listed as day-to-day.
Five other players are on the injured list.
