Penguins Set Rosters for Training, Rookie Camps
Fifty-seven players are scheduled to attend the Pittsburgh Penguins’ training camp, which will get underway Sept. 22 at UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex.
The list includes 30 forwards, 21 defensemen and six goaltenders, none of whom will be on a professional tryout.
That’s noteworthy because last year, Brian Boyle earned a contract after attending camp on a tryout. He had been hoping to attend this camp, too, but Penguins officials apparently have decided against inviting him.
The Penguins also announced the participants for their rookie camp, which begins Sept. 15. There will be 13 forwards, nine defensemen and three goalies.
A squad of the rookies will face one from Boston Sept. 17 in Buffalo, as part of the annual prospects tournament there.
