Penguins Trade: P.O Joseph Acquired from St. Louis
The Pittsburgh Penguins have acquired defenseman P.O Joseph from St. Louis for future considerations.
He will help to shore up the left side of the defense that was weakened when Marcus Pettersson was injured in Ottawa last Saturday.
It is not known whether Joseph will be in the lineup when the Penguins face Nashville at Bridgestone Arena Thursday at 8:08 p.m.
Shortly after the Joseph deal was announced, the Penguins returned defenseman Nathan Clurman to their farm team in Wilkes-Barre.
Joseph, 25, had no goals and two assists in 23 games with the Blues, who signed him as a free agent this summer.
Joseph entered pro hockey as an Arizona draft choice — he was a first-round pick in 2017 — but went to the Penguins in the trade that sent Phil Kessel to the Coyotes.
He made his NHL debut with the Penguins during the 2020-21 season and appeared in 147 games with the Penguins, putting up eight goals and 29 assists.
Joseph signed a one-year contract with St. Louis as a free agent after the Penguins declined to extend him a qualifying offer following the 2023-24 season. Per Puckpedia.com, he will be a restricted free agent with arbitration rights next summer.
