DeSmith, Team USA Shut Out Czechia, 3-0

Pittsburgh Penguins goalie Casey DeSmith made 15 saves to lead Team USA to a 3-0 victory over Czechia at Nokia Arena in Tampere, Finland Thursday in the quarterfinals of the world championship tournament.
The U.S. will face Germany and Canada will take on Latvia in the semifinals Saturday.
DeSmith is 5-0 and has stopped 113 of 119 shots in the tournament.
Neither of his Pittsburgh Penguins teammates on the U.S. squad, forwards Drew O’Connor and Nick Bonino, made it onto the scoresheet against Czechia.
Matt Coronato, Nick Perbix and Cutter Gauthier scored the Team USA goals.
Upgrade the defense, and DeSmith and another mid-level goalie would do just fine for one season. This team won’t be be a serious SC contender no matter who’s between the pipes. Parlay the Jarry money into a young, mobile d-man who can skate and move the puck. You know, someone like Chychrun, the guy who Sullivan wanted but Hextall rejected.
Stick with Jarry. I’m so sick and tired of fans wishing him to move on. He is the right answer and why others can’t see that I don’t know and don’t care.
Jarry is not a top goaltender neither is DeSmith the get the Winnipeg dude give them what they want our guys are loosers
Jarry may not be a Top Goaltender but he is damn sure better than any option out there on the FA Market and the Trade Market.
Hopefully the new GM will recognize that De Smith can contribute to the rebuild with his role as a back -up or in rotation with another goalie. I’m probably a minority voice in saying he’s an equal to Jarry , in fact I like them both and would not invest time or $ searching for a replacement(s)
