It’s easy enough to track some players’ statistics and judge them by where they rank in the NHL. Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Brian Dumoulin isn’t going to be found with some of his teammates among the top scorers, a badge of honor of sorts.

Yet Dumoulin is among the league leaders in one area. He is tied for fifth-best in plus-minus and leads the Penguins at plus-21.
