There are only four teams remaining in the NHL Stanley Cup tournament, free agency is just a few weeks away, as is the 2020 NHL draft. So, the NHL trade rumors are beginning to churn like a V8 engine. This could be the wildest offseason in recent memory as NHL GMs are unhappy with Toronto Maple Leafs GM Kyle Dubas for enticement, Bill Guerin might send the NHL rumors into overdrive in Minnesota, and Marc-Andre Fleury started Game 1 of the Western Conference Final.

Yeah, there is still hockey, you know?

Perhaps the biggest name being floated on the NHL trade rumors is Pittsburgh Penguins goalie Matt Murray. The Murray talk has risen above rumors. In addition to PHN sourced reports, others have credibly linked Murray to Toronto, too. We rank the potential Matt Murray suitors (Pittsburgh Hockey Now)

Toronto GM Kyle Dubas is getting a reputation for making a player available, then asking ridiculous prices. Dubas’ ask for Kasperi Kapanen is cited as an example, which doesn’t shine a positive light on the Penguins trade, does it? (Toronto Sun)

Micahel Russo of The Athletic reports Minnesota is testing the market on defenseman Matt Dumba (Yardbarker)

Could Taylor Hall wind up in Montreal? Could Montreal trade Max Domi to Buffalo? Could I add another question mark in this lead-up? (Montreal Gazette)

Dubas isn’t shopping goalie Frederick Andersen, *wink *wink, but teams are asking. In other words, yes, Toronto has made Andersen available. Carolina is one of the interested parties (Sportsnet)

Fleury started Game 1 of the WCF and was brilliant. His team…not so much (NHL.com)

National Hockey Now

Our last team standing is the New York Islanders. Here is the Eastern Conference Final schedule (NYI Hockey Now)

One big reason New York is into the ECF is the production of their second line. Brock Nelson and Josh Bailey are filling the net (NYI Hockey Now)

“They just ran out of bodies.” Pierre McGuire tells CHN why the Dallas Stars beat the Colorado Avalanche (Colorado Hockey Now)

Longtime San Jose Sharks forward Joe Pavelski is now a Dallas Star. Longtime SJ coach Pete DeBoer is now the coach of Vegas. The two will meet in the Western Conference Final. And, it will be weird for both of them (San Jose Hockey Now)

New Florida GM Bill Zito had a chat with Florida Hockey Now (Florida Hockey Now)

Boston Bruins are beginning to operate as if defenseman Tory Krug is gone. Multiple sources spoke to Boston Hockey Now last week, and the conclusion wasn’t good (Boston Hockey Now)

The next Hockey Now franchise is on the launch pad. What city has a World Series but a Triple A baseball team? It has Flamingos, a circus, and palms…
