Dan’s Daily: Fleury’s Agent Strikes Vegas, Taylor Hall Wants a Winner

Pittsburgh Penguins, Vegas Golden Knights, Marc-Andre Fleury

If Johnny Gaudreau is the big fish in the NHL trade rumors, then Taylor Hall is set to become the top forward in the free-agent pool, but he doesn’t want money. The Colorado Avalanche snoozed through Game One of their second-round series. Marc-Andre Fleury’s agent made a big statement about how he feels Vegas coach Pete DeBoer has treated Fleury. And, we’ve got some Penguins trade talk.

It was the first light night for hockey since this 24-team madness began, but that means we get more NHL trade rumors!

Pittsburgh Penguins Trade Talk:

We’ll start with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Gaudreau is taking a beating in Calgary for their meltdown. That makes him a perfect Penguins trade target — here’s why (PHN+)

Penguins trade rumor-ish? Max Domi may be on the Montreal Canadiens trade block. The Penguins made a strong play for Domi two summers ago. However, it sounds like Minnesota and former Penguins assistant-GM Bill Guerin are first in line (TVA Sports)

If you’re unfamiliar with TVA, they’re the French-speaking sports channel in Canada. That’s not an anonymous blog. Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman recently put Domi back on the Penguins radar, too.

The Edmonton Oilers are closing in on a contract with Jesse Puljujarvi, reportedly. Edmonton GM Ken Holland is also peering into the goalie market. Hello Matt Murray? (Sportsnet)

It’s not a Penguins trade story, but Patrick Marleau wants to return to San Jose (The Athletic)

A third-round pick was a vast overpay…

To the rest of the league:

Jimmy Murphy says its time to apologize to Tuukka Rask (Boston Hockey Now)

Pending UFA Taylor Hall doesn’t want money. He wants a winner (NHL.com)

The Montreal Canadiens have a bright future. Wow, the team and especially the kids impressed in the postseason. However, they have a few needs, including a scoring forward and a backup goalie (Montreal Gazette)

Agent. NHL playoffs. Distraction. Those aren’t the best ingredients, but Fleury and his agent have seen this before. Allan Walsh fired a public shot across Vegas’ bow.

Robin Lehner has started all but one game in the NHL playoffs, and all but two of the postseason games. Fleury had to meet with the coach and team personnel on Saturday to assure everyone that he was still with the team.

It was a dramatic statement, eh?

The Dallas Stars got to Colorado Avalanche in Game 1, while Colorado suffered a few injuries…uh oh Colorado (Sportsnet)

One of the guys who make the Columbus Blue Jackets such a tough team to play against is probably done. Brandon Dubinsky is unlikely to play again (Columbus Dispatch)

You may disagree, but I have loved every minute of the CBJ rise. They are tough to play against every night, and they just keep marching forward. They only drama is the number of questions they’re head coach will suffer through before he ends the press conferences.
