NHL free agent Trade rumors: Marc-Andre Fleury NHL playoffs

There are a handful of teams making a lot of headlines this week. Surprisingly, the Pittsburgh Penguins rumors are not among the most talked about, as the Penguins trade talk has slowed considerably. Instead, some big names are emerging and some top-tier teams are pushing hard in the NHL trade market. In the links today, we discuss a Marc-Andre Fleury buyout, the Edmonton saga of Jesse Puljujarvi returned to the fore, the Boston Bruins seem intent on making things happen and the Arizona Coyotes could suddenly become kingmakers.

I hope that’s enough?

Marc-Andre Fleury is not in an easy spot. One of the faces of the Pittsburgh Penguins became the face of the Vegas Golden Knights. Now, he’s being shopped around like an ’06 Honda with 100,000 miles.

Edmonton GM Ken Holland really wants to win the Jesse Puljujarvi battle. The young man has stated he didn’t want to play in Edmonton again after a tumultuous first couple of seasons, but Holland has held the line despite numerous teams, including the Penguins, kicking the tires, or outright making offers.

After playing in Finland this season, the 2016 fourth-overall pick may return to the NHL. He and Edmonton are discussing a new contract, per TSN’s Frank Seravalli on Twitter (Seravalli)

Also in Edmonton, defenseman Oskar Klefbom may miss the entire 2020-21 season due to a chronic shoulder problem. Will Edmonton work the NHL trade market? (Sportsnet)

On TV, TSN’s Darren Dreger tied Edmonton to Arizona’s Oliver Ekman-Larsson. I’d link to it, but you cant’ watch the video unless you’re in Canada, eh.

The Boston Bruins may have re-engaged talks to get Josh Anderson out of Columbus (Boston Hockey Now)

The vultures are circling around the Tampa Bay Lightning. A few sacrifices will be made to get cap compliant, and could the Winnipeg Jets pry Anthony Cirelli from TB, or extend an offer sheet? (Winnipeg Free Press)

Sometimes, you and I are at odds. I will explain the value of certain players, such as Dominik Simon, while you get frustrated with them. It’s OK, as long we don’t devolve into a Presidential Debate, we’ll be just fine.

One player who is increasingly under fire from fans is Penguins winger Zach Aston-Reese, who is out for six months after postseason surgery. However, one of the premier analytics gurus explained that Aston-Reese has some of THE best defensive numbers in the entire NHL. Really (Pittsburgh Hockey Now)

The Colorado Avalanche have been tied to Matt Murray since the beginning. Could Henrik Lundqvist fit with Colorado, instead? (Colorado Hockey Now)

Kevin Labanc took a team-friendly, one-year, $1 million deal with the San Jose Sharks last offseason. What is he worth this season? (San Jose Hockey Now)
