Ovechkin First Pitch vs. Crosby’s … and Other Terrible Throws
Ok, so Alex Ovechkin is Russian and the school children probably don’t play much baseball in Red Square. Ovechkin, the 2018 Conn Smythe trophy and Stanley Cup winner, got the honor of throwing out the first pitch(es) at Saturday’s Washington Nationals game.
Just like beating Sidney Crosby, Ovechkin needed some practice and more than one chance.

Just a bit high. It wasn’t a bad eephus for a strike on the second pitch, though we’re glad Ovechkin’s didn’t compound his choice of “mandals” footwear with rockin’ dad cargo shorts. We’re also pretty sure Matt Gajtka has a pair of mandals, too.
Ovechkin’s arch-rival Sidney Crosby needed no such help on his first attempt, last season.

However, gentle ribbing of Ovechkin aside, it is far from the worst first-pitch ever. That honor goes to Baba-Booey, otherwise known as Gary Dell’Abate, Howard Stern’s long-time producer.
