Penguins Chat: The Russian Penguins Debacle| PHN

Russian Penguins

PHN — Pittsburgh Hockey Now chats with author Sal J. Barry who penned an award-nominated oral history of the Russian Penguins and the wild, crazy issues which plagued the joint business venture between the Pittsburgh Penguins ownership and the Russian Red Army team.

Eventually, Penguins owner Howard Baldwin who initiated the joint-venture felt threatened by organized crime and the two-year run ended. However, the stories of bloodied mascots, evicting squatters from the arena, and strippers who misunderstood their job make fascinating stories.

Also, visit Sal J Barry’s online store: for hockey memorabilia.

And read the entire story which was published in the Hockey News, here.
