NHL trade rumors, Minnesota Wild GM Bill Guerin

The NHL was hit with a shock and a scandal Friday, when the IIHF suspended Washington Capitals forward and Team Russia member Evgeny Kuznetsov for four years after he tested positive for cocaine during the World Championships in May. TSN outlined former Pittsburgh Penguins AGM, now Minnesota Wild GM Bill Guerin’s problems and challenges in Minnesota. They won’t be easy. Our boys in Boston have been all over the RFA story with Charlie McAvoy and the Bruins which is getting dangerous and for the People Magazine crowd, there has been a celebrity engagement in the hockey world.

Is your heart aflutter?

The NHL responded to the Kuznetsov situation via a statement by Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly. Here is the full story. (Pittsburgh Hockey Now)

From whispers surrounding star players getting clean for Olympic competition (then struggling for a year after which only fueled the fire), to the boys having a good time, the NHL has taken a personal responsibility approach to conduct. It doesn’t hurt that hockey is a tight-knit fraternity which quietly polices itself, too. While the NHL can’t suspend Kuznetsov for an international cocaine test, they likely have the ability to suspend him for personal conduct violations…or lying about the infamous video which surfaced in May.

Regardless of hockey, Kuznetsov is a talented hockey player and by all accounts a good human being. Here’s hoping it isn’t a problem and he gets clean.

**The Boston Bruins are playing a dangerous game with RFA Charlie McAvoy. While negotiations drag on, some in the organization are drawing a hard line. Boston Hockey Now has the EXCLUSIVE story (Boston Hockey Now)
