Marcus Pettersson - Mark Friedman, Pittsburgh Penguins

The Pittsburgh Penguins defense pairs got a little shuffle Friday when they hosted the Winnipeg Jets, and recalled Mark Friedman was in the lineup.

The Penguins announced defenseman Marcus Pettersson was out due to illness.

Friedman was recalled Friday afternoon, two days after being sent back to the WBS Penguins. He was in Charlotte with the Penguins’ AHL affiliate but arrived in time.

This season, Pettersson has 11 assists in 40 games. Coach Mike Sullivan has often referred to him as the Pittsburgh Penguins’ most consistent defenseman this season.

Friedman, 27, has played just three NHL games this season after playing a career-high 27 last season and six playoff games.
