Players, Even Coaches, Deal With Approaching Trade Deadline (+)

There is a pipeline. Players, agents, coaches, upper management — as the NHL trade deadline approaches, people inside the league hear things. The question is how to handle that chatter.

It can be different for everyone, of course. Some players’ names get a lot more traction than others.

And then there are coaches. They often are privy to what is going on behind the scenes with their bosses, the general managers and other front office types who are the ones who actually make trades.

With this season’s trade deadline approaching March 21, PHN asked around a little with the Penguins. Coach Mike Sullivan came up with one interesting tale.
