Dan’s Daily: Forsberg on the Trade Block, Scary Tale of Bloody Blueger

Published

on

Filip Forsberg, NHL trade, Pittsburgh Penguins

The NHL trade deadline is shaping up to be a candy store with dozens of big-name free agents on middling teams. Pittsburgh Penguins center Teddy Bleuger told the harrowing tale of suffering a broken jaw, but doctors couldn’t find the source of the gushing blood. What could the Philadelphia Flyers get for Giroux and Filip Forsberg is the surprise trade rumor.

Side note. Be careful about who you classify as an “insider” and the trade “rumors” you bite on. Just because someone puts a logo near a player’s name doesn’t mean there are trade talks, especially for a player like Phil Kessel, who makes no sense.

We’ll start with the Penguins…

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: How’s this for symmetry–Evgeni Malkin was joking around on Wednesday, though his dream would be cool. He wants Sidney Crosby to assist on his 500th goal. The story from Pittsburgh Penguins practice.

PHN+: Blueger told the details of his scary ordeal after suffering a fractured jaw from the hit by Brenden Dillon. Blood was gushing, and doctors couldn’t find the source. Read the Teddy Blueger ordeal.

The Penguins also recalled Kasper Bjorkqvist on Wednesday.

NHL Trade Chatter, News & National Hockey Now

Philly (+): What could Claude Giroux net on the market for the Philadelphia Flyers.

Washington: Filip Forsberg was traded before–the Washington Capitals infamously dumped n Nashville for Martin Erat. Oops. It sounds like Forsberg, who already has 26 goals this season, is back on the NHL trade block.

There are some big, names who could be dealt…

Gee, Twitter was ablaze with rumor accounts claiming J.T. Miller would be traded in moments. Canucks GM Patrik Allvin did his best to pour cold water on speculation. Allvin said firmly he’s trying to keep Miller.

Allvin did drop one comment that I’m going to write about regarding the Penguins.

Calgary: The Flames AGM stirred news when he said take Johnny Gaudreau off the block. He won’t hit free agency, either, “It’s a done deal.” Gaudreau will sign with the Calgary Flames.

TSN: There are a lot of defensemen (but mostly lefties) on top of the TSN Trade Bait board.

Lots of D, and no Pittsburgh Penguins…

Sportsnet: Maple Leafs prospect Rodion Amirov was diagnosed with a brain tumor.

The National Hockey Now sends its unconditional support, and we’re sure we’ll cover him on NHL ice one day soon.

San Jose: I’m not sure if this is bluster, hope, or foolishness. The San Jose Sharks are NOT rebuilding.

Montreal: I’m starting to dig these Canadiens. They’ve been through hell and back. Injuries. They lost their captain (Shea Weber) to severe injury and retirement, lost their goalie (Carey Price) to injury and personal issues, and played without fans in a very restrictive province. GM gone. Coach gone. And like a dandelion through the sidewalk, with Marty St. Louis as the coach, the Montreal Canadiens have won four in a row.

Go, you crazy Habs.
