Penguins Preseason Game vs Red Wings; Notes & How to Watch

Pittsburgh Penguins game, Detroit Red Wings

After a split with the Columbus Blue Jackets in split-squad games Sunday, the Pittsburgh Penguins visit the Detroit Red Wings Tuesday, 7 p.m. at Little Caesars Arena.

The game can be heard on the Penguins flagship radio station, 105.9 the X. The game will also streamed on the Penguins website. However, the stream can be accessed only within the Pittsburgh Sportsnet region.

Sam Poulin and Radim Zohorna had eye-catching performances Sunday; Zohorna in the first game and Poulin in the second. Both will be in the lineup Tuesday.

Coach Mike Sullivan will be behind the bench for the first time in the preseason. He viewed the games with president of hockey operations/GM Kyle Dubas from the management boxes.

Penguins Game Notes:

The Penguins trimmed the camp roster down to 47 players on Monday. Peter Abbandanato was released from his PTO, and defenseman Mark Pysyk was placed on the injured list.

Tuesday, Sullivan said Pysyk was out “longer term” but did not specify the injury or if Pysyk would remain with the team.

Last season, the Penguins earned points in two of three games (1-1-1) and averaged 4.33 goals per game. In three games against the Red Wings in 2022-23, Jeff Carter led all Penguins with four points (2-2-4).

Correction: The next preseason game is Thursday vs.Buffalo at PPG Paints Arena. Then the Penguins are on the road. The fifth preseason game is Oct. 2 vs. the Ottawa Senators at 6:00 p.m. at Scotiabank Centre in Halifax.
