Penguins Grades: 3 Unexpected Standouts Lead to Win & Good Signs (+)

It’s been a rough stretch for the Pittsburgh Penguins. The stretch has lasted nearly two months, but for the first time, signs indicate the team is coming out of their sideways shuffle and veering back towards the simplistic uptempo game that usually brings results.



Two games don’t make the Penguins and good hockey Facebook official, but it’s a good start and a two-win weekend. The Penguins rallied for a 3-2 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena on Sunday evening. Columbus had won nine of their previous 12 games and averaged more than four goals per game.

Still, the Penguins should beat Columbus, which won’t make the playoffs again this season, as the Penguins should.

Better news than a win was the manner in which the Pittsburgh Penguins earned two points.
