Dan’s Daily: Penguins Newbies Speak, PTOs Released

Published

on

Pittsburgh Penguins, Mike Sullivan

Is Marcus Pettersson the perfect Jeff Petry partner? We also chatted with most of the Pittsburgh Penguins’ newbies about what makes the Penguins different than other organizations. A couple of the answers caught the attention of other fanbases. Jaromir Jagr held court about his future at the NHL game in Prague, a few big-name PTOs were released, and the fallout in Dallas after Jason Robertson signed a four-year, $31 million deal.

One more preseason game to get through. It will be high-drama, heavy pressure for a few Penguins defensemen. Otherwise, everyone else can work on getting ready for the NHL regular season.

For this reporter, preseason games are the equivalent of going to your favorite bar but finding it is a veggie juice bar instead.

Pittsburgh Penguins / Steelers, Pirates

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: We talked to the new guys. They have played for other organizations, coaches, and with other teammates. Besides Sidney Crosby, what makes the Pittsburgh Penguins different?

I saw a bit of social media reaction to the story on Thursday night. None of the players spoke negatively about past teams, but some fans accurately noticed what other teams don’t do.

Marcus Pettersson. Is he the perfect partner for Jeff Petry?

Steelers Now: The front four vs. Josh Allen’s feet. Why history favors the Steelers.

There aren’t any answers yet, but there’s a GoFundMe for the daughter left behind by the still unexplained death of a fan at Acrisure Stadium last Sunday.

NHL News & National Hockey Now

Calgary Hockey Now: The Edmonton Oilers released Jake Virtanen from his PTO. Sonny Milano and Cody Eakin were released by the Calgary Flames.

NHL.com: Before the NHL game between the San Jose Sharks and Nashville Predators in PragueJaromir Jagr held an impromptu press conference. He’s not done, but he also doesn’t have time.

TSN: Matt Murray is quieting concerns about the Maple Leafs goaltending with a solid preseason.

Montreal Hockey Now: After a slow start, the top overall pick is picking up steam. Juraj Slafkovsky played his best game with the Montreal Canadiens.

Washington Hockey Now: What do you think of Evgeny Kuznetsov? It doesn’t matter! Kuznetsov doesn’t care what anyone thinks. Check out this Washington Capitals feature.

Philly Hockey Now: Another day, more tinkering with the Philadelphia Flyers lines.

Dallas Hockey Now: Now that he has the new contract, Jason Robertson has the jutters and relief for the Dallas Stars.

I often lament POJ’s weight, but then aw that Pettersson weighs 10 pounds LESS!

Petterson is 6’5″ and has proven he is good for the entire season. Yes wish someone 210 pounds and meaner was there but he seems to get it done! Pens all play defense and get back with the best of them! Salary Cap only goes so far after Covid!
