Dan’s Daily: Johnson Honored, Penguins Problems, & a Spectacle in Edmonton

The NHL trade chatter died down over the weekend, though Pittsburgh Hockey Now will have a little something later Monday morning. Should Pittsburgh Penguins coach Mike Sullivan be feeling a little heat today? PHN dove into the Penguins’ issues and the angst surrounding the Penguins’ head coach in our latest Q&A. Former Penguin Adam Johnson was honored by one of his former teams Sunday after the player tragically died following being cut by a skate blade in a game Saturday. On the lighter side, the NHL threw a grand party in Edmonton, and the Heritage Classic both further doused the Calgary Flames and lifted the Edmonton Oilers. Lastly, Mike Matheson is beginning to fantasy hockey players, too.

After the football debacle on Sunday, I tried to watch TV while I pushed forward on the business front. I concluded there are far too many streaming services, little shows, and monthly subscriptions to keep track of. I haven’t seen the new Yellowstone nor the Frasier reboot because I canceled that service, but Netflix has the movies, Disney has Star Wars, and Hulu is part of my ESPN+ package but… I

f only we could invent a service that had all of the good stuff, like a network. And it could be broadcast instead of paying for it. We could even have a few of these “networks.” They could play a few commercials to make money instead of dinging my overused bank account every month and hoping I forget about it.

Yeah, I think I’m on to something big!

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: We first learned of the serious injury in a UK game Saturday afternoon. By the wee hours of Sunday morning, former Pittsburgh Penguins forward Adam Johnson had passed away.
