Dan’s Daily: Boeser Hits NHL Trade Block, Penguins Hit Everything
The Pittsburgh Penguins were a rowdy bunch on Monday night. They trucked the goalie while their goalie, Tristan Jarry, added an assist and stopped almost everything. Montreal is already talking about the first-overall pick at the 2022 NHL Draft, Evander Kane is skating alone, and the Vancouver Canucks are ramping up the NHL trade chatter on Brock Boeser.
That’s another Hockey Now scoop…
Vancouver: The Vancouver Canucks season is slipping away quickly. Since the summer, Brock Boeser has been on the NHL trade block, but now Vancouver GM Jim Benning is getting itchy. Things are happening…
Pittsburgh: The Penguins completed a perfect road trip. You can watch the PHN postgame show here.

NHL News & National Hockey Now:
San Jose: What in the hell will San Jose Sharks do with Evander Kane? He’s been skating by himself, away from the team. The Sharks still don’t know how what to do with their personally troubled star winger.Â
Fifteen years ago, Jim Rutherford and the Carolina Hurricanes wanted goalie Artus Irbe to bail (for cap, not personal reasons), so they sent him to the Johnstown Chiefs of the ECHL. Instead of sulking, he had a blast, picked up every bar tab for the boys, and made an indelible impression on Johnstowners. Perhaps Kane needs to play hockey somewhere and create some goodwill before anyone wants him in their locker room?
There are no takers for Kane on the NHL trade market, nor will there be until someone trusts him to be a positive contributor.
Sportsnet: Credit Montreal reporters. Rather than grabbing a shovel to bury the hapless Habs, the spin is — No. 1 pick Shane Wright!Â
NYI: The New York Islanders are not yet panicking, but the glass over the panic button has been lifted, the staff has been informed, and non-essential persons are heading for the door before the alarm sounds. The New York Islanders are sinking–Their slump is adding a sense of urgency.
As Earl Hickey might note–perhaps the Islanders’ start is karma for all of the sneaky shenanigans this summer.
Florida: The Florida Panthers are pretty, pretty good. They’re now one of the betting favs for the Stanley Cup.Â
Vegas: The Golden Knights had the game under control, then the wheels fell off, and they lost to St. Louis 5-2. Robin Lehner owned the loss and shrugged in the postgame…”It is what it is…”
Colorado: Nazem Kadri is both essential personnel and a player the Colorado Avalanche might live without. Adrian Dater says poppycock! Sign Kadri now.Â
Toronto: Despite getting a lesson from the Pittsburgh Penguins on defense and goaltending, the Toronto Maple Leafs are much improved in those areas. It’s changing the team–Scott Cullen dishes some grades for the backside and red-hot Jack Campbell.Â
