Pittsburgh Penguins prospects, Sam Poulin

The Pittsburgh Penguins have recalled forward Sam Poulin from their farm team in Wilkes-Barre.

In a corresponding move, they placed fourth-line center Noel Acciari on injured-reserve because of an unspecified lower-body injury.

Poulin, 23, has 13 goals and 14 assists in 36 appearances with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton this season.

He was the Penguins’ first-round draft choice in 2019 and has one assist in three NHL games.

Poulin’s most productive season as a pro was his rookie year, 2021-22, when he put up 16 goals and 21 assists in 72 games with the Baby Penguins.

He sat out much of 2022-23 while tending to his mental well-being, but recorded four goals in 15 American Hockey League games then.

It was not immediately known whether Poulin will be in the lineup when the Pittsburgh Penguins face Carolina tonight at 7:08 at PPG Paints Arena, although he was on the ice for their game-day skate.
