Pittsburgh Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan said Tristan Jarry remains out only week-to-week, but to participate in the Penguins team picture on Wednesday, the No. 1 goalie showed he was still unable to put pressure on his right foot. The Penguins appeared relaxed and refocused as they enjoyed their third and final off-day before facing the Boston Bruins on Thursday night. The Washington Capitals missed their chance to pass the Penguins for third place and gave the Vegas Golden Knights just a little hope in the West.

Probably the biggest story in Penguins land is Jarry.

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: News on Jarry, who was wearing a boot or cast and was using a scooter instead of walking. Tristan Jarry update.

The Penguins spoke. Relaxed. Mike Matheson talked about the changing game for defensemen. Mike Sullivan gave a detailed, reflective answer, and Jeff Carter was…Jeff Carter. Pittsburgh Penguins media.

And, could Amanda Kessel be the first female GM? The Penguins created an Executive Management Program, and she is the first student. Read on.

Washington: Alex Ovechkin scored his 50th goal of the season, tying Mike Bossy with nine 50-goal campaigns, BUT…the Capitals let one slip away. They earned one point but only tied the Penguins for third place. Washington Capitals takeaways.

Here’s one from Sammi Silber that I think Penguins fans will find interesting–Daniel Sprong opened up about getting traded and what Ovechkin taught him about scoring. Washington Capitals interviews.

NHL News & National Hockey Now

Vegas: Viva, Las Vegas! The Golden Knights beat the Capitals and kept the Penguins in third place. They also closed to within two points of the second wild card. It’s a scramble but doable for the Vegas Golden Knights.

Florida: Continuing to keep a close eye on the Panthers. They’re keeping things fresh in the final weeks. Head coach Andrew Brunette is mixing and matching his top lines. I guess bulldozing teams isn’t enough. Florida Panthers fun.

Sportsnet: I’m beginning to circle a few players that I think Hextall will be watching (*ahem, Nathan Gaucher). The big boys weighed in with their 2022 NHL Draft prospect rankings.

Montreal: The teams will be lining up for the NHL Draft Lottery picks on May 10. Things are also becoming clearer for the Montreal Canadiens.

Boston: As the Pittsburgh Penguins defense becomes the focus here (Oh, I’ve got some more stuff coming), the Bruins defense is jelling. Boston Bruins analysis.

Philly: Another day…another NHL debut for a Philadelphia Flyers prospect.

Detroit: The most in-depth and fun read on the Red Wings. Kevin Allen and Bob Duff went round-table style on Jeff Blashill’s future, Steve Yzerman being unhappy with the coach and a few players so big-time trades could be coming, and more. Detroit Red Wings inside info.
