Pittsburgh Penguins game Kasperi Kapanen

The Pittsburgh Penguins and Buffalo Sabres clash once again Saturday night at KeyBank Center.

Let’s take a look at tonight’s Eastern Division showdown in our Penguins vs. Sabres betting preview with odds, picks, and player prop predictions.

Penguins vs. Sabres Betting Pick (March 13, 2021)

On Thursday night, the Penguins scored a pair of goals in the third period to seal a 5-2 victory over the Sabres.

Forward Evgeni Malkin opened the scoring with his seventh tally of the year. Jake Guentzel scored his ninth goal of the season on the power-play late in the second period, which proved to be the game-winner.

Tristan Jarry made 21 saves on 23 shots to pick up his eighth win in his last ten starts.

Meanwhile, Buffalo has now lost nine consecutive games, and one more defeat would make the Sabres only the second team in the last six years to suffer a double-digit losing streak.

Bets We Like With a Penguins Win

Penguins Team Total OVER 3.5 Goals (-115, BetMGM)

This Pittsburgh offense is on a tear right now, scoring 26 goals over their last six games. Going up against a simply dismal Buffalo defense that has allowed three or more goals in 10 of their last 11 contests, including exactly five goals in five consecutive games, I like for the Penguins to cash this team total tonight.

Bets We Like With a Sabres Win

Sam Reinhart to Score a Goal Anytime (+245, DraftKings)

Leading the Sabres with 11 goals on the year, the 25-year-old Reinhart has been the only real scoring threat for Buffalo, especially in the absence of Jack Eichel.

If the Sabres want to break this nine-game losing streak, they will need their best forward to score at least once tonight.

Bets We Like Independent of the Outcome

First Period OVER 1.5 Goals (-140, DraftKings)

The Penguins are on a 6-1-2 run to the over in their last nine games. This includes five straight games of going over the total in the first period. Meanwhile, the Sabres have given up five goals in each of their last five games. They’ve also surrendered 39 total goals in their last 10 contests overall.

Pittsburgh’s defense is always liable to give up some dangerous chances, and with the offense heating up, I’m expecting scoring early and often in this showdown.

Penguins vs. Sabres Prediction

Buffalo continues to play awful hockey right now, and with the Penguins still surging, I like Pittsburgh to hand Buffalo its tenth straight loss tonight in a 6-3 final.
