Many of the Pittsburgh Penguins’ most prominent and accomplished players are scheduled to play in their exhibition game against Detroit Tuesday night at PPG Paints Arena.

Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Kris Letang and Jake Guentzel are among the headliners in the lineup, which includes most of the guys likely to be uniform when the Penguins open the regular season Oct. 13 against Arizona,

The complete roster for the game against the Red Wings, which is set for 7:08 p.m., includes:

GoaliesTristan Jarry, Casey DeSmith.

Defensemen — Brian Dumoulin, Ty Smith, Jeff Petry, Marcus Pettersson, Jan Rutta, Kris Letang.

Forwards — Bryan Rust, Drew O’Connor, Jason Zucker, Rickard Rakell, Kasperi Kapanen, Drake Caggiula, Brock McGinn, Ryan Poehling, Teddy Blueger, Radim Zohorna, Crosby, Malkin, Guentzel. (There are 13 forwards on the list released by the team, so presumably one will be scratched.)

I see 4 Fs battling for the last couple roster spots: D’OC, Poehling, Zohorna, and Caggiula. And I see Smith getting in the lineup on D. While the rest of the roster look like locks for the regular season roster.

I know I probably shouldn’t look too much into the active roster for preseason games, but it’s hard not to wonder if those guys are on the inside track at the moment for the last few spots.
