Published

on

Pittsburgh Penguins, Penguins trade, Erik Karlsson

Former Pittsburgh Penguins winger Kasperi Kapanen faces a DUI charge back home in Finland. The Penguins released their giveaway schedule and bobblehead nights, while Dave Molinari explained how president of hockey operations/GM Kyle Dubas is winning over skeptics like Dave. Exiled Blackhawks management Joel Quenneville and Stan Bowman addressed a one-day meeting of NHL coaches and GMs in Chicago on their failures to deal with the assault on Kyle Beach properly. Brian Burke was named to the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame, William Nylander is next up at the Toronto Maple Leafs negotiating table, and the continuing saga of Mark Scheifele and Connor Hellebuyck on the NHL trade block.

I have no stories to share today. My apologies to the few PHN+ subscribers who got an errant page to a website for sale page. It’s the first glitch in our new subscription module. Tech guru Joe is fixing it.

I can’t decide if today is a motorcycle ride, a golf day, or a … screw it, walk for a coffee, then nap all afternoon. I hear good things about this sleep thing.

Pittsburgh Penguins

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: Sidney Crosby bobbleheads and spiffy trapper hats. Here are the giveaways on the Penguins schedule.

Between the large bobbles that FOCO has sent to me and the Penguins giveaways, I have a bin of boxed bobbleheads. Perhaps I should start giving these away?

Plenty of prospect potentials were added to the prospects tournament roster. Led by Brayden Yager and Sam Poulin, here is next weekend’s Penguins prospects roster.

Brian Burke was named to the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame.

PHN+: I made this story free! Go ahead and click while we fix issues. Dave Molinari tells us how Dubas is winning over skeptics, including Dave. Penguins analysis.

Steelers Now:

The Steelers hosted four linemen for workouts. Steelers news.

Pain. The Steelers locker room wants to bring back the physicality, “Hit them and not make them move.” More from the Steelers locker room.

PODCAST: Afternoon Drive with Zachary Smith and Alan Saunders made their Steelers predictions.

Pittsburgh Baseball Now:

Mitch Keller was knocked around, and the Pirates lost. Get the quickie Pirates recap.

Finally. The Gold Glove campaign has begun for Ke’Bryan Hayes.

NHL Trade Talk, News & National Hockey Now:

KSDK: Kasperi Kapanen is suspected of drunk driving in Finland. He also released a statement.

Florida Hockey Now: This story strikes me as unusual. Gary Bettman, who solely holds their hockey future in his hands, invited former Blackhawks Joel Quenneville and Stan Bowman to speak about their handling of the Kyle Beach situation at the GMs and coaches meeting in Chicago.

New Jersey Hockey Now: We don’t talk much about the Devils, the forgotten bunch in the Metro Division, but they’ll probably win the division this season. Our James Nichols puts it bluntly — these four New Jersey Devils have the most to prove.

Also from our friends up north, GM Kevin Cheveldayoff is keeping all options on the table regarding Scheifele and Hellebuyck. The NHL trade rumors and speculation await.

TSN: After signing Auston Matthews to a hefty four-year contract, Brad Treliving says William Nylander is next.

Boston Hockey Now: Besides not having a replacement at the top of the lineup for Patrice Bergeron, could the Bruins also go with a captain-by-committee approach? The Boston Bruins have a lot of questions.

Detroit Hockey Now: I suppose this is good news for the Penguins. Making the playoffs this season is NOT the main goal for Detroit Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman.
