BUFFALO — It was not second verse, same as the first for the Pittsburgh Penguins prospects team competing in the Prospects Challenge. With a different lineup from Day 1, a few new faces shined, and the team had a significantly different flavor than the uninteresting vanilla group that was easily dispatched by the Boston Bruins prospects a day before.

The Penguins prospects earned a few scrappy goals and frustrated the Ottawa Senators prospects 8-3 at LECOM Harborcenter on Saturday. Ottawa landed a couple of third period goals after the game was largely decided. The Penguins responded with a couple, too.

The Penguins will finish their three-game challenge on Monday afternoon.

The differences between Game 1 and 2 were stark but generally positive. Sam Poulin was a driving force, and a couple of prospects showed a feisty side, earning good grades in the process. Poulin was dominant.
